Lately it's been in the 80's & 90's in Foster City with no breeze, pretty crazy for being so close to water. Coffee has been a staple in my morning routine for years, but when Summer mornings start off in the 70's, I change up the recipe a tad.
Here's my simple at-home iced coffee (this can be altered to include a blender if you have one)
You'll need a coffee maker, and some coffee :)
Begin with your normal coffee-making procedures, I drink about 3 large mugs/glasses a day, so I fill my coffee machine to 6
Chill a couple glasses in the freezer while you coffee brews
Once the coffee machine is done, move the coffee pot to a stove top so it can begin to cool down
Once the coffee pot is at room temperature, place it in the freezer - or if you don't have room for a large pot, fill the chilled glasses with coffee and put them back into the freezer.
When the coffee begins to ice up, remove it from the freezer and add creamer until you get a khaki color, then add about a tablespoon of chocolate syrup (I add a tablespoon of sugar because dark chocolate syrup needs to be sweetened up a bit)
Mix thoroughly then add a few ice cubes and you're ready to sit back in your 90 degree apartment sipping on some refreshing and energizing iced java!
This weekend we drove to Salinas, CA to spend time with my BF's family to celebrate Father's Day. This is BF's first Father's Day and we had such a fun time! I didn't get to snap a lot of photos, or film the dinner because I spent most of my time holding and caring for the baby, but I did get some scenery footage and baby photos! YAY! :)
Here we are refilling the gas tank for our drive to Salinas
We woke up late and I was running around the apartment trying to get myself and the baby ready, packed and set to go - SO I didn't eat breakfast - BF bought us 2 burritos from AMPM (not as good as it looks, lol)
This time we remembered to bring Madilyn's activity saucer aka her Office, she was a happy girl!
Our surprise from BF's Sister was a bottle of Bethenny Frankel's Skinny Girl Margarita!!! SOOOO GOOD!!! :D
It was such a nice day outside with the Salinas breeze, so we took Madilyn out to enjoy the weather
Here's Madilyn spending quality time with Aunty Teri
As I put Madilyn down for nap, BF decided to rest a bit too while we watched golf on TV
End of the day, we were fed and exhausted, but had a GREAT time and we can't wait to come visit again!!
Last weekend BF, baby and I went on a family outing. We drove through San Francisco a little to get on the Bay Bridge, which was backed up because a man pulled his car over, got out and threatened to jump. Eventually authorities were able to apprehend him and the man and his vehicle were removed from the bridge, hours later all the routes to the bridge were still backed up.
*Tons of photos in this blog post, if you wanna skip them, you can watch my vlog here:
This is BF :) I think he's handsome, lol
I thought this house was so uniquely painted, green with black trim
Posting a Face Of The Day [FOTD] for my Tumblr while in SF traffic
Here's our little girl, Madilyn, super cute huh? :)
Finally made it to the bridge!
Halfway on the Bay Bridge, we got off at Treasure Island to see the shore line. The winds were so strong that I could barely open the car door to step out. While trying to snap photos and film, the winds were pushing me back, it was intense, but so amazing!
We also got to see the new portion of the Bay Bridge which is currently under construction, I thought this was exciting because it's not often you see a bridge being built.
We had planned to visit this hot dog vendor and get a couple Polish dogs - SO yummy!
After our lunch, we drove around the island for a bit and saw some historical buildings. On our way off the island we saw this 40' dancing woman, Bliss Dance.
We got back onto the Bay Bridge and headed into San Francisco on our way to Pacifica Beach.
At the beginning of this year we had visited Pacifica a few times debating if we wanted to rent an apartment there, right on the ocean. We ended up not moving to Pacifica, but it is still a nice town to drive through, especially to walk along the beach and down the pier.
We had to feed the baby dinner at this point, she was so excited to finally get out of her car seat!
We walked along the shore line, then headed down the pier where people were fishing and catching some crab. Once out at the end of the pier, it's breath taking to see the open ocean ahead of you, then to turn around and see the foggy hills of Pacifica.
Heading back to the car, there's a flag pole which was at half-mast in honor of the San Francisco firefighters that passed away recently.
On our way home we stopped by the post-pipeline-explosion in San Bruno. It was shocking to see just how big the area is that was ruined by the fire. We had a sullen moment because we had been looking into moving to this area last year, actually a month or so before the explosion happened.
At the end of the day, we had a great family outing. Baby was definitely happy to be home and went to bed right away.
We enjoy driving up and down the coast line and finding new places. So be prepared to explore the San Francisco peninsula and CA Bay Area with us!
